Pourquoi garder un pape vieux ?

Un pape, sauf exception qui n’a eu lieu qu’une seule fois en 2000 ans (au Moyen-Age), meurt dans sa charge.
Il est nommé à vie, est tant qu’il est capable d’exercer ses fonctions, il reste en place.
Comme un père de famille qu’on ne chasse pas (en théorie) parce que sa forme physique décline.
Nous le voyons ces derniers temps avec Jean-Paul II qui, bien que faible physiquement, a la tête qui fonctionne bien.

Il est important de souligner que son témoignage est un message d’espérance pour toutes les personnes âgées et les malades à qui l’on fait trop souvent sentir qu’ils sont inutiles.
Sa faiblesse physique fait d’autant plus ressortir sa force d’âme et son courage de rester jusqu’au bout.

Et pour la petite histoire, le pape lui même disait "Jésus n’est pas descendu de sa croix quand c’était vraiment dur" !
