Les saintsSaint Gérard de BrogneNé à Namur (Belgique), il refusa tôt la vie aisée qui lui était promise pour entrer chez les bénédictins de Saint-Denis près de Paris. Poursuivant ses études, il devint prêtre. Envoyé fonder, en 931, un monastère à Brogne et s’étant acquitté à merveille de sa tâche, on le chargea de réformer certaines communautés où on avait constaté un certain relachement. Il visita ainsi les monastères de Flandres, de Champagne et de Lorraine où sa sainteté et sa fermeté opérèrent les redressements nécessaires. Il revint enfin à Brogne où il finit paisiblement sa vie. |
