Patriarche d’Alexandrie, grand théologien, adversaire du nestorianisme, du nom de l’hérésiarque Nestorius, patriarche de Constantinople, qui contestait la divinité de Jésus-Christ, et fut condamné au concile d’Ephèse, en 431. Proclamé docteur de l’Eglise par Léon XIII. Fête le 28 février (ou 28 janvier, ou 27 juin ou 9 février). |
